Recession Chic 101

Here are some great tips for a thrifty wardrobe boost, for all you Recessionista’s out there!

Recycling clothes makes as much sense as recycling glass, plastic and other materials we use.  Give an old clothing item new life, by adding gems, pins, patches and even fabric paint for a whole new look.

Shop around resale shops, Good Will, etc., for great finds. One woman’s discard can be another woman’s dazzler.

Have a clothes-swapping party with old and new friends. Using your own items that you bring as currency to swap for the new items from your friends.

Reinvent old jewelry buy mixing in alternative items.

Take old shoulder padded blazers, cut off the sleeves, belt the waist and wear as a vest.

Take Emily Post’s term “Mrs. Three-in-One” to heart and look for products that serve multipurposes.

Grab a pair of your boyfriend’s jeans, belt at waist with a scarf and roll up the bottoms. You’re in style with “the boyfriend jean.”

Remember you always want to look fabulous without filling up landfills with your unwanted items!

Happy Recessionistering.
